If you love to knit, and want some of your treasures to go to those in need, then we invite you to join us. We are a group of kind-hearted knitters who help to make life easier for Washington’s tiniest citizens, cancer patients, and other well-deserving people in need. |
We knit hats for three different groups:
| Assistance League Eastside |
“Operation School Bell” ,through the Assistance League Eastside, addresses one of the most basic of needs - that of adequate clothing for children ages 5 through 13 in Eastside school districts. With the support of Fred Meyer stores, clothing is provided to these children and the last step of their “check-out” is to select a handknit hat or scarf. That’s where we come in. Last year, the Assistance League provided clothing for nearly 2,000 children. That’s a lot of hats! They need our support. |
Overlake Hospital, Evergreen Hospital |
Both hospitals have children born prematurely who need small caps to keep their heads warm. There are also people going through chemotherapy who need hats and appreciate handknit hats. |
So join us to knit hats… Tuesday Mornings from 10:00 – 12:00 or, knit your treasure at home and drop it off at Cultured Purls to add to our Conduit of Care Corner ***GUIDELINES*** Make Chemo Caps from any yarn, as long as it is soft & pretty. Machine washable and dryable yarn is preferred for children’s hats. To follow hospital guidelines, knit and store your treasures without odors of any kind, such as smoke, cologne or pet hair.
Remember, you can make a difference whether you are an experienced knitter, or a first-timer. We welcome all levels, and we look forward to having you become a part of our group of knitters. We promise a lot of love and laughter. |
